My heart is often tired these days. I struggle to make sure the decisions I make are the best for my kids even though society often frowns on those choices. But it’s not society I put my trust in and more importantly my faith. These are the horses and chariots some trust in, but, Momma, let us remember who our Lord is, Jehovah.
Jehovah is the Self-Existent One. Jehovah is “I Am” He is the covenant keeper with His people in the Old Testament, and He is the One Who doesn’t change for you and me today.
It is so important to know God as Jehovah. It is the name in our English translation of the Bible that is all capital LORD. I often wish our Bible would have left the names of God in Hebrew because we lose so much meaning with just God, Lord, and Jesus. We don’t see Jesus literally calling Himself a name of God and making the Pharisees mad. We don’t understand the full characteristics that God calls Himself through His names.
Jehovah is the name He used when speaking about covenants with His people. In my study of Jehovah these adjectives stood out to me in connection with the meaning: compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in loving kindness and truth.
Today I encourage you to remember Jehovah through Bible study and prayer.
