A Personal Election Note

I had to take a break last week because part of me needed to sit for a moment with my topic choice. Mommas are in a season that is so incredibly difficult. Not only do we spend so much time wanting to be the best for our children, but during election season, we stress about our country making the best decisions for our children. Election season is upon us and the first debate is behind us now. So I thought I’d take a moment to address a couple of things on my heart. 

It’s hard to say that there is a great option here. For many that can be discouraging enough to cause them to check out. But momma, I’m going to encourage you to remain checked in. I’m going to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone about politics, and consider the freedom that was so hard to earn. It was worth going to war for, and we are a different type of soldier today.

Tonight, I am specifically addressing the pro-choice view of both candidates. Spiritually this is a hard one to overcome, and I understand. It’s hard for my momma heart, and it’s hard for yours too. I get that. The moral implications are hard when we do not see a candidate line up with a standard that is so important to maintain in this broken world. So here’s my opinion. Vote anyway. We say politics aren’t about our feelings, and unfortunately that includes our moral compass sometimes. 

It would be best to be able to hold our candidates to the moral standards we want for ourselves. But right now, we are fighting to maintain the freedom that allows us to have those morals to begin with. So for that reason, vote for the person who is happy to put the choices in the hands of the states. Vote for the freedom to move to the state that has the moral compass you want to achieve again within society. 

And mommas, let's raise the generation that will bring back a moral standard to our political world.
